Intersex (inclusive) organizations
Sex diversity is an umbrella term for several concepts1Among them are intersex, and the following terms which are often used in medical surroundings; differences of sex development, sex variations, variations in sex development and diagnosis-related names2Among others, the following medical diagnoses; 5 alpha reductase deficiency, adrenogenital syndrome, androgen insensitivity syndrome, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, mixed gonadal dysgenesis, hypospadia, Klinefelter syndrome, Kallmann syndrome, Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster syndrome, Swyer syndrome, Turner syndrome, triple-X Syndrome, XY gonadal dysgenesis. which may differ medically and biologically, but which often have great social and societal similarities.
This list of intersex organizations is far from complete. Some of the organizations listed are patient groups in the traditional sense, most are not, because they are against the medicalization of intersex. In addition to organizations that focus specifically on intersex, human rights organizations and LGBTI organizations with a program for the diverse spectrum that is biological sex are also included.
API is a Portuguese organization that includes an intersex project led by intersex people.
Accord Alliance is an American organization that fights for better communication between medical professionals and people with a DSD (they do not use the term intersex). The organization was founded by Bo Laurent, who is better known as Cheryl Case, the founder of the Intersex Society of North America, the first activist organization for intersex people. The website has two books available for download. These books describe the practical implementation of the Chicago Consensus document for doctors and parents.
The Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome Support Group is an English support group for women with androgen insensitivity syndrome and related intersex variations. The website contains a lot of information, most of which is medical in nature. It also includes scientific articles. Many pages have not been updated in a long time, but the page AIS in Articles/Books contains references to many recent sources.
Amnesty International is a human rights organization. In 2017 Amnesty published a report about the violation of the rights of intersex people in Germany and Denmark.
ARSI is an organization for intersex people who speak Russian.
AXYS, Association for X and Y Chromosome Variations, is an American group that strives to help people with one or more extra X and/or Y chromosomes and their families live fuller and more productive lives.
The Beautiful You MRKH Foundation was founded to join medical professionals in raising awareness about MRKH.
Bilitis is a Bulgarian LGBTI foundation that has an intersex project led by intersex people.
The Blue Diamond Society in Nepal has an intersex project which is led by intersex people. With financial aid from the United Nations Development Programme, the Blue Diamond Society organized the first intersex gathering in Nepal, in 2016. A total of 13 intersex people took part.
Brújula Intersexual is a Mexican volunteer organization for intersex people that was founded in 2013. They focus on the human rights and bodily autonomy of intersex people.
Collectif Intersexes et Allié.e.s. was founded in late 2016 for intersex people and allies in the country of France.
Fundacja Interakcja is Polish organisation standing up for intersex human rights. Fundacja Interakcja was established to strive towards a world where intersex people/people with diverse sex characteristics feel fully accepted and safe. Their rights should be fully respected, and they should have access to information and support as well as adequate medical care.

Human Rights Watch is a human rights organization. In 2017 HRW, joined by Interact, published a report about intersex in the USA.
ILGA stands for International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (the B, T and I were added later). Human rights organisation ILGA is an umbrella organization for over 1200 organizations from 132 countries that works towards the equality of LGBTI people and the ending of all forms of discrimination against them. ILGA tries to achieve this goal by working together on a global scale, and by supporting its member organizations. ‘Intersex’ was added to the name in 2008. ILGA is based in Geneva, Switzerland, and is often active in the UN in Geneva.
ILGA-Europe is the European chapter of ILGA (World). It is an umbrella organization for 490 member organizations in 45 European countries.
Inter Action Suisse is a Swiss organisation for intersex people, parents, friends and allies. It strives to educate, provide support among peers, and address the human rights issues of intersex people.

Interact Advocates for Intersex Youth is not an organization for peer contact. It is an organization that fights for the rights of intersex people. In 2013 this organization joined forces with the Southern Poverty Law Center in a momentous lawsuit to sue a hospital and the doctors who treated an eight year old boy.
InterConnect, formerly known as AIS-DSD Support Group is an American intersex organization. It was the first to include a program for men with a DSD, during the 2013 International Intersex forum. The 2012 forum already included a program for people with adrenogenital syndrome.
Interconnected UK aims to provide peer support and a safe space for intersex people/people with diverse sex characteristics  and their loved ones to connect, share their experiences and learn from each other. They also strive for more awareness on intersex issues and an increased understanding of experiences and issues affecting intersex people. Interconnected UK also aims to provide specific consultancy advice on policy, inclusion and representation.

The Interface Project makes intersex people visible by publishing videos of them talking about their personal experiences on the internet.
Intersex Belgium is a Belgian intersex organisation. The website is still under construction.
On February 19, 2015, intersex activists Dani Lee Harris, Dana Zzyym, and Hida Viloria renamed OII-USA (founded in 2011 by Viloria as the U.S. part of the Organization Intersex International (OII)) to Intersex Campaign for Equality (IC4E).  On the Intersex Day of Remembrance, November 8, 2017, IC4E announced its new arts-, education- and action-oriented mission. In addition, Hida Viloria announced her resignation as president of the Organization Intersex International (OII), and stated that IC4E is no longer the U.S. component of OII.
Intersex Danmark is a Danish intersex organization.

Intersex Iceland is an Icelandic intersex organization.
Intersex Peer Support Australia, formerly known as Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome Support Group Australia is mostly known for having the first intersex mayor in the world, Tony Briffa, as its vice-president.
The Intersex Persons Society of Kenya (IPKS) is an intersex organisation in the Republic of Kenya.
Intersex Russia is a Russian intersex organization based in Moscow.
ITANZ is a New Zealand intersex organization. Its website is currently unavailable.
Intersex UKÂ is an intersex organization in the United Kingdom.
Intersexioni is a collective of activists and researchers that was founded in Italy in 2013. The organization focuses on
- inequality between men and women and the intersectionality of inequality on the basis of sex, ethnicity and social class;
- the interwovenness of sexism, racism and classism;
- gender related violence, bullying and homophobia;
- the rights of intersex people;
- the rights of sexual minorities, gay people and transgender people;
- the modern family and gay and transgender people as parents.
Intersexuelle Menschen e.V. is an activist group that originated from the German organization XY-Frauen in 2004. Like the name implies, this group is open to people with a broader range of intersex variations.
The Intersex Society of North America was the first organization to openly stand up for the interests of intersex people. It is no longer active. The information on the website is still available, but it is not kept up to date. Founder Bo Laurent, who went by Cheryl Case at the time, founded Accord Alliance after leaving ISNA.
IVIM, also called OII Deutschland or OII Germany, was founded in 2008 to work on ending non-consensual, medically unnecessary and cosmetic interventions forced on intersex children and adults, and to ensure human rights for intersex people, such as bodily integrity and self-determination.

The Klinefelter Syndrome Association (KSA) was founded in 1990. It is an active British patient organization for people with Klinefelter syndrome.
MRKH Organization, Inc. is a group for women who have Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome. The website does not appear to be active, however.
NNID is a Dutch intersex human rights organization that advocates for the (human) rights of intersex people nationally as well as internationally.
OII Europe is the only intersex-led umbrella organization fighting for the human rights of intersex people in Europe.
Outright Action International is an American non-governmental LGBTQI organization with ECOSOC special consultative status at the United Nations. As the organizer of UN Advocacy Week, OutRight has regularly brought intersex to the UN’s attention in recent years.
Plattform Intersex Österreich is an independent network consisting of VIMÖ (Verein Intersexuelle Menschen Österreich), NGOs, scientists and activists.
SIPD Uganda creates awareness about intersex variations and works towards a more open, tolerant and supportive society towards intersex children and adults, and advocates for the protection, well-being and respect for the human rights of intersex people in Uganda.
TransInterQueer e.V. is a German organization for trans and intersex people. They have an intersex-led project on intersex human rights.
Trasek is a Finnish trans and intersex rights organization that has an intersex-led project focused on intersex human rights.
The Verein Intersexuelle Menschen Österreich was founded in February 2014 and aims to improve the quality of life of intersex people in Austria.
XY Spectrum is an intersex-led human rights organization working on intersex rights in Belgrade, Serbia.
XY-Frauen is a German support group that focuses on people with intersex variations. In addition to fellow support contact, XY-Frauen also focuses on political goals.
Zwischengeschlecht is a Swiss action group that strongly opposes surgical intervention in intersex children. Zwischengechslecht rejects the acronym DSD because it is pathologization of intersex people.
